Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing & Fees
Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
We use flat-rate, upfront pricing — not hourly billing. Before any work begins, your technician provides a written quote for the complete job. You approve the price before we start, so there are no surprises when the invoice arrives. The price doesn’t change based on how long the job takes.
What is a dispatch fee?
A dispatch fee covers the cost of sending a licensed technician to your home to diagnose the issue and prepare your written quote. This fee is clearly stated before your appointment. If you proceed with the work, it’s factored into the total — you’ll always know the full cost upfront before we start anything.
Will I get a written quote before any work starts?
Always. Every job starts with an in-person assessment. Your technician will walk you through what they found, explain the recommended fix, and hand you a written itemized quote — before touching anything. You are never obligated to proceed, and the price won’t change once you’ve approved it.
Why can’t I get an exact price over the phone?
Because every plumbing and HVAC situation is different. What appears to be a simple clog or leak can have underlying complications that affect the scope of work — and only a trained technician can assess that accurately in person. Guessing over the phone leads to surprises on your invoice, which is exactly what we want to avoid.
Do you offer any coupons or discounts?
Yes — we regularly offer coupons on common services. Check our coupons page before your appointment and mention the coupon when you book. Our team will apply it to your job.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We offer flexible financing through Hearth and Wells Fargo for larger jobs including water heater replacements, furnace installations, repiping, and more. Apply online at our financing page, or ask your technician during the estimate. You can get pre-qualified quickly with no impact to your credit score.
Availability & Response Time
Are you really available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
Yes — a real person answers the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Not an answering service. Not voicemail. If you have a burst pipe at 2am on a Sunday, call us and someone will pick up immediately.
Do you charge extra for evenings, weekends, or holidays?
No. We do not charge extra for after-hours, weekend, or holiday service calls. Our pricing is the same regardless of when you call. There is no premium for nights or holidays.
How quickly can you respond to an emergency?
For plumbing and heating emergencies, we aim for same-day service and often arrive within one to two hours of your call. Availability varies by day and demand, but we will always tell you an honest ETA when you call — and keep you updated if anything changes.
What counts as a plumbing or heating emergency?
Common emergencies include: burst or actively leaking pipes, sewage backups, no hot water, a heater or furnace that won’t turn on during cold weather, gas smell near appliances (call your gas company first, then us), and flooding from a failed water heater. If you’re unsure whether your situation qualifies, call us — we’ll help you figure it out.
Credentials & Trust
Are your plumbers licensed in Washington State?
Yes. Every technician we dispatch is fully licensed, bonded, and insured under Washington State requirements (License #PUGETSP929CF). We only hire licensed plumbers — we never send unlicensed workers to your home. You are welcome to ask your technician to show their state license at any time, and they’ll be happy to do so.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Puget Sound Plumbing & Heating is a fully licensed, bonded, and insured plumbing and heating company (License #PUGETSP929CF). We carry full liability insurance for your peace of mind. All technicians are individually licensed and certified in Washington State.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. All labor comes with a satisfaction guarantee — if something isn’t right after the job, we’ll come back and make it right. Parts warranties vary by product and are clearly stated on your invoice. We also offer extended warranty programs on water heaters, repiping, and major HVAC installations. Full details are on our warranty page.
What warranties do you offer on parts and labor?
Labor is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. Parts warranties depend on the product installed and are listed on your invoice. For major installations — water heaters, furnaces, boilers, repiping — we offer extended multi-year warranty programs covering both parts and labor. Ask your technician before the job starts, or visit our warranty page for details.
How long have you been in business?
Puget Sound Plumbing & Heating has been serving homeowners and businesses in the Burien, WA area for over 20 years. We’re a locally owned, family-operated company — not a franchise. Our team knows the Puget Sound region, the local codes, and the kinds of plumbing and HVAC systems common in homes throughout King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties.
What to Expect on Your Service Call
What should I expect when your technician arrives?
Your technician will arrive in a marked company vehicle and uniform. They’ll introduce themselves, put on shoe covers before entering, and assess the issue before starting any work. They’ll explain exactly what they found, walk you through your options, and give you a written quote — all before touching anything. We treat your home with respect and clean up after ourselves.
Can I ask to see my technician’s license?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. All our technicians are Washington State licensed plumbers. Just ask, and your technician will show you their license on the spot. We believe informed customers make better decisions, and verifying credentials is a smart habit.
Will the technician explain what they’re doing and why?
Yes. Our technicians are trained to explain the problem clearly in plain language, walk you through the recommended fix, and answer any questions you have before starting. If you want to understand what’s being done and why, just ask — we’re happy to walk you through it step by step.
Do your technicians clean up after the job?
Yes. Technicians wear shoe covers when entering your home, and clean up the work area when the job is complete. For jobs involving old equipment (water heaters, old pipes, etc.), we haul away and dispose of the old materials — you won’t be left with a mess.
What if additional issues are found once the job starts?
If a technician discovers additional issues beyond the original scope while working, they will stop and discuss it with you before proceeding. You’ll receive a revised written quote for any additional work. We will never expand the scope of a job or charge you for additional work without your explicit approval.
