What Is Pipe Relining?

Pipe relining is a preferred method of repairing broken or cracked pipes. Instead of fully replacing your pipes with brand-new materials, we can essentially create a new pipe within the old, damaged one. Relining pipes fixes up all fractures and ensures your system is free of leaks. Our team can recommend traditional or trenchless pipe lining.

Why Is Pipe Lining Necessary?

Sewer pipe lining is crucial for making sure your plumbing system isn’t leaking and costing you extra each month in water bills. Not only can pipe relining save you money when you have a leak, but it also brings the following benefits:

  • No property damage
  • No risk of damage to underground utilities
  • Minimizes pipe erosion
  • Improved water flow through pipes
  • A comparatively quick process with few disruptions to traffic or sidewalks

How Our Pipe Lining Process Works

Pipe relining is a complicated process that requires the attention of a trained professional. Fortunately, the team at Puget Sound Plumbing & Heating has years of experience with this plumbing repair technique. While every job may be slightly different, this is how a general pipe relining process works from start to finish:

  • Inspection and Measurement: First, we take a look at the current state of your pipes. We’ll use a drain camera to explore the inside of your pipes and pinpoints leaks and obstructions. During this time, we’ll also take the appropriate measurements.
  • Lining Creation: Once we have concrete data on the size and condition of your pipes, we can begin crafting a custom felt liner. Along with an inflatable bladder, this liner will be inserted into the damaged pipe.

  • Installation: Our experienced team will begin the installation process. We’ll use a rope to pull the new lining into place and correctly match up with the damaged areas. Then, we inflate the bladder, which seals the liner against the existing pipe. Once the material is safely attached to the pipe, we’ll deflate the bladder and pull it out of the pipe.
  • Final Evaluation: If all goes well, you should have a brand-new pipe to transport water to and from your home! Before we pack up for the day, we’ll complete a final evaluation to ensure everything is working properly.

How Long Does Pipe Lining Last?

Investing in pipe lining services now can save you time, money, and headache in the long run. When completed by a trustworthy professional, most pipes repaired with lining last an additional 50 years! However, if your pipes are too damaged to support relining, you may need a full replacement to reap the benefits of such a long lifespan.
